Examples

From blazing sunshine to snowstorms

There are thousands of examples where everything goes exactly according to plan. Assignment received, assignment completed… a logical process with fast and efficient handling.

But it is the other stories that are truly interesting — the ones where everything either falls perfectly into place or completely falls apart. What matters is understanding why things happened the way they did.

EBS Callcenter

Tyre incident in Denmark

The driver calls in and knows his exact location, which fortunately is at a rest area. The tyre size is standard, and our service provider has just completed another job only 2 kilometres away. A fortunate coincidence…

Time from the driver’s call until he was back on the road: 45 minutes.

Burst air spring in Sweden

The driver calls in and knows his exact location. The vehicle is carrying a light load. After just 5 minutes, a mechanic arrives and determines that the vehicle is safe to drive to a workshop located 1,200 metres down the road. The air spring is replaced, and the driver is back on the road. Luck is on our side once again.

Time from the initial call until the driver was back on the road: 85 minutes.

Trailer damage in Austria

The driver is unsure of his exact location and the extent of the damage:
“Problems with the landing legs — they won’t lower. Waiting for the train at the Brenner Pass.”

A mechanic is dispatched to the area, arriving after 30 minutes, and then spends another 40 minutes searching for the vehicle. Once he locates the trailer and inspects the damage, it becomes clear that a new landing leg is required — the existing one is completely damaged.

The mechanic agrees with the driver to return to the workshop to collect the necessary parts. When he returns approximately one hour later with the replacement landing legs, both the trailer and truck are nowhere to be found.

Another driver at the location informs him that the trailer has already been loaded onto the train and is on its way to Italy, while the truck has left the area.

From the call to case closed: 2 hours and 25 minutes.

Recovery vehicle dispatched in Germany

The hauler contacts us via email requesting a winch out on a valid position. The job is described as “truck and trailer hit soft ground and need winch out.” A rescue unit is dispatched and arrives after 40 minutes. They contact us with the following information: “The driver has attempted to turn on a small road and has reversed into a field – only the front wheels are still on the road and the road is icy! We need extra assistance.”

This job required two rescue vehicles and a lot of time due to the position in the field and the icy road, which meant that the rescue staff was barely able to pull the truck and trailer out of the soft field.

From call to case closed: 5 hours and 40 minutes.

Of course, we encounter regions and countries across Europe where distances, regulations, cultures, and availability affect how quickly we can provide assistance and resolve the issue.

We always do our very best to deliver the fastest and most effective solution, but sometimes a greater effort is required to find the right one. We consider such situations to be force majeure, but that certainly does not stop us from continuing to do everything we can to help our customers.

“Problems can be solved on-site — impossibilities simply take a little longer…”
